On woman in ten dies from Ovarian Cancer.
There is currently no early detection test for this form of cancer & its lack of symptoms in the early stages of the disease means women are usually diagnosed in the late stages of the disease – when the cancer has spread to other organs in the body.
Frocktober is an initiative I am participating in to raise awareness & funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OSCRF).
The OCRF’s 3 main objectives are:
- To develop & implement an early detection program for ovarian cancer.
- To improve the mortality rate, management & long term survival of women with ovarian cancer.
- To raise community awareness of the importance of early detection.
This month I’ve been wearing a frock every day in support of OCRF. You can help me out by heading over to my Frocktober page & making a donation no matter how small.
This week I had the very kind support from Nicky & the team at Ginger Owl, one of my favourite local boutiques, in Scarborough, Western Australia. (They also have another store in Alfred Cove). Nicky allowed me to come into the Scarborough store & play dress ups with their amazing range of dresses! (I might have picked up a gorgeous pair of drop crotch denim Nobody shorts while I was there too, but that’s another story!).
While I was in the store trying on dresses & chatting with the lovely Mel who works at Ginger Owl, another customer in the store told me how one of her best friends had just been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. So close to home!
So thank you Ginger Owl, it was tricky, but I picked my 3 fave frocks from the Scarborough store & included them in my week of frocks!
Love this Auguste The Label Roamer Play Dress in Jungle Print – $125 from Ginger Owl, Scarborough
Thinking seriously about going back & buying this gorgeous Lily Whyt Maxi – $75 from Ginger Owl, Scarborough
Perfect race day dress! Love this Suboo Bermuda Maxi Dress – $239 from Ginger Owl, Scarborough
Thank you to those of you who have already donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation & have been following my Frocktober challenge! Don’t forget there’s still time to donate!
You can find a post I’ve written previously on Ginger Owl with all their contact details here. If you’re in Perth make sure you check out one of their gorgeous stores.
