Top Five Travel Tips for Bloggers with Forty Up

Travelling is a passion of mine.  I love being away from my normal routine, breathing in the sights & sounds of a foreign city, getting lost in the architecture & indulging in fantastic foods!

It doesn’t matter if you’re travelling interstate, overseas or just visiting a neighbouring town, there’s always an experience worth seeking out.

Being a Blogger means I need to be ready for anything, anytime & always, always ready to document it!

Here are my Top 5 Tips For Travelling Like a Blogger

 Be Organised

If you’re heading overseas, make sure your passport has at least 6 months left on it before expiry or you might get to check in & realise you’re not going anywhere!

Have a hard copy of all your travel devices, addresses & important documents & keep it with you.

Make sure you have adaptors for all your technology, phone, camera & laptop & the appropriate country’s adaptor if travelling overseas.

Also travel with a great notebook & a couple of pens.  Technology doesn’t always work & you never know when you’ll need to jot down a great idea, name or interesting fact!

Pack Light, But Pack Smart

It’s a great idea to lay out all your outfits you want to take away with you before you go so you don’t forget anything.

Keep in mind the weather conditions of where you’re going & allow at least one outfit for each kind of occasion, something casual, something dressy & something in-between!

It’s a great idea to pack loads of accessories that way you can change an outfit from one look to another, hats, scarves & jewellery are lightweight & easy to pack.  You’ll be wanting to look super stylish (but practical) for all those Instagram pics you’ll be posting & the possibility of an outfit shoot at any time!

Packing light means you’ll have room for all that shopping you’ll be bringing home with you!

Take Too Many Photos

There’s nothing worse than getting home & wishing you’d gotten that photo of the two of you kissing below the Eiffel Tower or getting a pic of those amazing pastries you ate in the local market.

Do it!  Take more than you need, you won’t regret it.

Your social media feeds will be full of amazing pics & you’ll be the envy of all your followers!

Remember to take photos of people, places & things to mix up the feed.

Don’t forget to clear all the photos from your camera & phone’s memory so you don’t run out of room!

Be Prepared

I am a firm believer in researching your destination before you get there.

Back in the day that meant lugging my gazillion page Lonely Planet with me everywhere I went, highlighted & notes scrawled in the margins.

Now you have the luxury of smart phones & tablets, make the most of it!  Know where you want to go & what you want to see before you get there!

Get Lost

There’s nothing better than taking off for the day, wandering aimlessly with no real plan.

Getting lost usually means talking to locals, being surprised by great finds & making wonderful memories.  It also means amazing photos & fantastic blog posts!
