So, as you may or may not know, it’s Christmas VERY soon! As a stay at home Mum, I am a frequent user of our local shopping malls & supermarkets. I like the day to day grind of the shops, where everyone knows their place, the hierarchy, the speed, the car park & checkout etiquette. The Mum’s with strollers, the heavy, out of control trolleys, the pensioners on pension day, the toddlers. On an average day, this is all good, I can cope, I fit in.
Come Christmas, this all changes. There are people that do not usually spend any time in shopping centres on mass, and they are out of control!! They do not know the rules, the simple guidelines that us midweek shoppers adhere to is suddenly thrown out the door. There are Dads in four wheel drives with a car full of kids, teenagers in flocks that meander down the aisles, single male hipsters, thrown into a sea of mass consumerism that nearly drowns them in their local Kmart. There is road rage & honking in the car parks, trolleys not put into the trolley bays & people that are walking too fast or too slow for the mall. And believe it or not, there are people that DO NOT know how to use the self service scanner. Stay away from them people, find a checkout with an operator!!!
Right, so now I’ve vented, that’s why I have already done all my Christmas shopping. I vow to not enter another shopping mall after December 1. Except to get the kid’s photo taken with Santa, but that’s not shopping.
Hope you like my Christmas List – is there something special you’re hoping to find under the tree? How do you cope with your Christmas shopping?
