Lunch in Scarborough

September 4, 2014

So, it was my day off on Tuesday.  That means, no kids, no office job, just me & the list as long as my arm of things I need to get done toddler free between 9am & 3pm!  Unfortunately, Mr D had other ideas for me.  I had been at Oak’s school assembly when I get a sneaky text from Mr D asking me if I had time to help him out today.  The answer was no, but of course it went back as a yes.

You may have seen my Instagram photo during the week of the tiny little trenches he had me digging with a teaspoon in our front yard!  All bloody day it took!!  Mr D is an accountant, not a reticulation expert, so it was a very stressful day for both of us & for any passers by who stopped to ask exactly what it was we were doing!  (The landscaping of our front yard is taking a lot of money & time & our neighbours are constantly intrigued by what the new young folk down the street with their new fangled ideas are up to!).  I’ll share some photos of our work in progress in more detail in some posts to come.

Today is all about the lunch!  About 3 hours in & I’m getting to the point where I am unable to keep going unless I sit down & eat!  Mr D declares it’s his shout & I decide I need a burger.  We are really lucky where we live, there are burgers in surplus, & I don’t mean the Maccas variety, just plenty of unpretentious groovy burger joints!

There was not a drop of wind around so we headed down to a perennial mid week favourite C Breez Kiosk on Scarborough Beach (no typo, that’s what it’s called!).  If you are familiar with Scarborough it’s opposite Wild Fig & Grill’d, & it’s down next to the bottom car park.

It really is just a kiosk, it only seats about 20, but with the view outside it’s the perfect place to grab some take away & a blanket on the beach, or pull up a patch of grass at the park outside – great dinner idea with the kids!

It’s cosy & welcoming inside & the food is great!  My $12 C Breez Burger completely hit the spot, I ate the whole thing & managed to help Mr D out with his chips – must be all that manual labour!!

Come summer this place is heaving, open 7 days, if you haven’t been, add it to your list of places to eat in Scabs!

I’m lucky enough to live near one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, do you live near the sea?  What about burgers, are you a fan?  Got any hot tips on where to get the best one near you?
