Last weekend we were invited to the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club for a friend’s birthday lunch.
Located in Freshwater Bay on the Swan River in affluent Peppermint Grove in Perth, Western Australia, the yacht club is housed in the beautiful original home of founder, Edward Keane, a distinguished colonist, all the way back in 1896. Keane along with Aubrey Sherwood, Collector of Customs & some of their local friends formed the sailing club & built a jetty for their boats at the foot of Irvine Street.
If you are lucky enough to be a member, or be invited by one, the menu is tasty & well priced. The kids are also catered for with their own menu, kids activity packs, an enclosed playground & more grass to run around on than you could cartwheel all day on – we hardly saw our kids for the entire afternoon!
It’s an amazing location, even on a day like the one we had, completely overcast, raining & windy, I can only imagine how gorgeous it would be twilight on a summer’s evening out on the lawn! The river, the view of the city, helps you to remember why I’m so lucky to call Perth home!
