I’m listening to a podcast about blogging, because, you know, that’s what I do. I’m way behind with this podcast & the lessons attached, but I have gotten something out of the first one already. It was basically about what makes a successful blogger, but in reality could be applied I guess, to a successful anything.
It was, are you a Habitual Action Taker or a Habitual Dreamer?
I’m guessing that you know already which category the successful people fall into. Yep, the Habitual Action Takers. Unfortunately for me, I know that I am not a Habitual Action Taker, I have always been a Habitual Dreamer.
School meant for me, scribbling in my notebook, dreaming of being a high flying journalist for 60 Minutes one day, host of MTV the next. Dolly Magazine editor or maybe Red Carpet journo for E
News the next.
Sure, these aspirations were high, but did I do any thing about reaching these goals? Did I study my arse off in Politics to get that 60 Minutes job? Did I approach TV & Radio stations to get my foot in the door for the MTV gig? Did I pack my bags move to LA & sleep on the front door step of E News to get my dream job? No.
Because all of these things terrified me. They terrified me then & they still terrify me now.
Although I love being alone, I know I am a pretty typical introvert, there are many things I don’t like to do alone. I am an excellent hand holder, a brilliant wing-man, an awesome “I’ll back you up” kind of gal.
Perhaps now at the ripe old age of 40-something, I should make a special effort to learn to be a Habitual Action Taker. Especially as my current dream is to make my Blog a success. And by a success, I mean, a blog that is filled with content that makes me happy. That is invariably going to mean I need to get out & meet people, god forbid, maybe actually talk to them!! Guess what? I’m going to give it a red hot go.
So, thank you Darren Rowse for your podcast that I am yet to listen to in its entirety. Lesson Number 1 has already been noted & I will endeavour to become a successful Habitual Action Taker, with just a touch of Habitual Dreamer……
Now, I just need to make sure that Habitual Procrastinator doesn’t sneak into the picture…..
What do you think? Are you a Habitual Action Taker or Dreamer? Or are you something completely different??
