Don’t Stop Believing!

May 29, 2014
Early start! Cabbed it to The Grind Cafe in Haights Ashbury for the US’s good old ridiculously sized breakfasts. Breakfast burritos, buttermilk pancakes & veggie scramblers served up with some pretty good coffee from a rather delish Jake Gyllenhall look alike barista, or so we thought!

It was a clear but rather brisk morning perfect for a stroll through the burbs & Alamo Square to see “the painted ladies”. For the uninitiated, the painted ladies are a series of San Franciscan traditional Victorian houses. Who would’ve thought!!??

Next stop, the Golden Gate Park & the botanical gardens. According to our chief botanical garden expert Lizzie, they weren’t up to scratch, but it was a beautiful day for it!

Continuing our walk then through the streets of the trendy Mission District stopping to look in the home wares & vintage stores. By then we were ready for a seat & a drink!

We caught one of the gorgeous 1950s Municipal Railway streetcars that run through the streets of San Fran back to our home base Union Square. The “Muni’s” are painted in their original retro colours & are a super cute way to get around!

We stumbled upon Eno Wine Bar on Geary Street, where our delightful waiter Alex guided us through the world of Californian wines & cheeses, magic!

Feeling refreshed we went shopping! We didn’t venture much further than the ginormous Westfield on Market Street but we didn’t need to! Last minute gifts for home purchased we got ourselves organised for our last supper at the amazing Central Kitchen on 20th Street back in the Mission District.

Our wonderful concierge at our hotel had made the booking for us & encouraged us to take the only spot they had available for us at 9pm & we’re so glad we did!

We opted for the Chef Decides menu, with beverages of course, which meant we had no idea what we’d get to eat! But what we got was amazing from beginning to end! Including our poetry/blog writing waiter Ryan, who indulged our ooing & ahing & general silliness!

It was the perfect end to a perfect holiday. Thanks girlies xx
