I think you could say that we have well & truly settled into our beautiful Villa at Chandra here in Seminyak. We’re even managing to sleep in a little! Not too much though, because at 9am our Chandra team are arriving to prepare our breakfast!
All the good stuff – fruit, Nasi Goreng, eggs, toast, juice – it’s all there! Today we order our coffee from Kim Soo & I rate it as one of our best! How’s the cute little carry case?!
We start the day off by the pool, floating around on Rainbow Bubbles (our unicorn floatie we hired from We Float Bali), listening to tunes & reading trashy mags.
Lunch today is at Da Maria, the new Italian restaurant by the same crew who own Motel Mexicola.
The taxi ride is long, the traffic is bumper to bumper, but our taxi driver has a keen love of Bryan Adams – so we sing loud & proud the whole 20 minutes it takes us to get there!
Da Maria doesn’t disappoint. It’s light & bright, the decorating & fit out is sensational! The staff were spot on & the food amazing – I ordered the Salami Pizza, at approximately $13 Aussie dollars it was divine! The cocktails were lovely too.
Don’t think you don’t want to eat Italian in Bali, you so do when it’s this good!
Because of the traffic we decide to walk back to the Villa & walk along the main street of Seminyak to do some more shopping. The shops along Eat Street are pretty high end, no bargains to be had here, although you will find lots of great stuff if you’re prepared to spend the equivalent to what you’d spend at home.
We love Buddha Wear, Auguste the Label, Magali Pascal, Uma & Leopold for gorgeous fashion. Unlike the pieces you’ll buy at the markets, these are clothes you’ll wear while you’re in Bali & then actually wear at home!
The Shang is great for cute home wares & Stroberi for all the hair accessories the little lady in your life could want (& maybe you too)!
I’ve been looking for a pair of sunglasses with coloured frames for like, forever & I find a pair in One Teaspoon which is awesome!
It’s been a long, hot walk though, so it’s back to the Villa & some air conditioned comfort & another laze in the pool. This is a life to which I could become accustomed!
Dinner tonight is Bossman burgers. We’ve all heard lots of good things about this little Seminyak burger bar, so we’re stoked when our dinner is delivered to the Villa. We’re not disappointed! With a burger designed to suit everyone, they are big, fresh & full of interesting flavours – for about $9 Australian dollars they are a bargain. Washed down with a Bintang it doesn’t get much better for this chick!
Such a pretty sky & really nice to just kick back in the Villa tonight just chilling out. We’ve been arguing, no make that discussing, the “hum” we can hear & if it’s related to the kites we can see in the sky (those little specks in the pic are much larger in real life). Tonight we finally ask Google the answer & it turns out the kites are used to keep bad spirits away from the rice paddies & are in fact fitted with little motors to make the “scary” noise! So there you go. Don’t say it wasn’t a cultural visit! Until tomorrow!! xx
