10 Pairs of Pants Perfect for Travelling

Pants for Travelling

A friend is heading off to the U.S. on a girl’s trip – I know, lucky thing!  She’s asked me about Travel Pants.  Yes, these are a thing.

What are Travel Pants?  They are the super comfy pair of pants that you will wear on your journey, the getting there, the getting home & I guess, maybe, getting around in between.

They need to be soft, stretchy & lightweight.  No buttons & tight waistbands, no gripping or sweaty fabric.  You need to be able to sit comfortably, lug heavy bags, bend over, climb & just about anything else you might come across, especially on long haul travelling.

And let’s not forget, they need to look good!

Luckily right now comfort is king in fashion.  We live in the age of Active wear, Leisure wear, Lounge wear, whatever you like to call it, it’s the perfect time to shop around & find the perfect pair of travel pants.

A jersey type fabric is perfect & you’ll find joggers & harem pants great for this.

Your first decision in purchasing your Travel Pants for travelling, as opposed to wearing on the couch on the weekend, is whether you intend to only wear these pants for travelling to and from a destination (some gorgeous trackies might do the job!) or whether you will be wearing them while you are there.

And if the decision is to wear them while you are there, what purpose will they need to serve?  Purely casual with sneakers, or do you want the option to be able to dress them up with heels?

What about the length?  If you’re heading to a colder climate you’ll want the length, especially if you’ll be wearing thermals underneath (it can be done – I did in Japan last year!).  Or if you’re heading somewhere warmer perhaps something 3/4 in length would be better suited.

If you’re going for simply casual, then your options are limitless.  A jersey type fabric is perfect & if you choose a neutral shade you’ll be able to wear them with practically any comfy top for travelling.

If you want your pants to dress up a little in your travels, then choose a darker more formal shade like black or khaki, or perhaps some leather or satin embellishments or side panels.  Pop on a pair of heels, a camisole & leather jacket & you’re good to go & grab those cocktails!

I’ve put together a collection of 10 pants perfect for travelling in, I hope you find a pair to suit your next adventure!

Ok, these Sussan Knit Denim Jogger, $90 might not be as stretchy as a jersey, but the denim does have a little bit of give & they’re a nice alternative if you’re not into the whole “active wear” thing.

Lorna Jane travelling pantsThese Lorna Jane Studio Luxe Pants, $120 might be something you already have, or something you can work into your wardrobe, rather than buying something specifically for the trip.

Feather & Noise Travelling Pants

These Feather & Noise Cass Joggers, $55 are another great option that isn’t a harem pant.  The stripes are gorgeous, they are 100% cotton & have cute little zip features on the cuff.
